  1. Ad Astra – cancelled

We are sure it will come as no surprise to you all, but given the latest government pronouncements on dealing with the Coronavirus outbreak, we have regrettably decided to cancel our forthcoming screening of Ad Astra on 28 March.

We will of course refund any bought tickets via the TicketTailor website. (However, if you feel you don’t need or want a refund, please do let us know via info@oakwoodcinema.org.)

In terms of our future schedule, we have also taken The Farewell (end of April) off sale for now until we have a clearer picture of the situation. Little Women (end of May) is still on sale but of course that may change in due course.

Keep safe and well, and we will I am sure be open again in the coming months.

  6. Membership scheme – important news

We wanted to announce that after a lot of consideration we have decided to withdraw the Membership scheme. When we first set up the cinema we introduced it as a way of gaining support, as well as creating a small fund that helped us hire equipment to get going. Thanks to the loyalty of Members, and the regular full houses that we get, we are now secure in our operation and we can recycle the proceeds from ticket sales into investments in equipment and maintenance that will keep developing in the future. The Membership scheme is quite arduous for us to administer, and, whilst it is a nice way to show your support, it doesn’t generate much income and, we feel, doesn’t offer Members a huge amount in return.  On reflection, we think it would work better for everyone all round if we were able to sell tickets at a £5 flat rate, and not have a separate Member ticket or have to manually update Membership lists.  We hope you understand.

Once again, thank you so much for your support so far!

  7. Our ‘audience choice’ for July – Bohemian Rhapsody!

At the last two screenings, in April and May, we gave our audiences a vote to decide the film they want for July from a choice of four 2019 Oscar winners.  And the film that came out on top (after a very tight result) was Bohemian Rhapsody, which tells the story of Queen and Freddie Mercury.  Rami Malek won numerous awards for his performance as Freddie, including the best actor Oscar and BAFTA, and the songs are of course fabulous!  We will be showing this on 20 July, 7.30pm

  8. Audience choice coming up

We are pleased to be introducing one of our popular ‘audience choice’ votes, for audiences for our films in April and May.  You will be given the chance to vote for one of four 2019 Oscar winning films, and the winning film will be shown in July.

Also, please note that the July date of the 20th is a new addition to the Oakwood Cinema schedule.

Our films for April, May and June are all now ON SALE via the website.
